Try Hockey for Free - presented by KraftHeinz

USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free Day is designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport. The upcoming national events for the 2018-19 season are: Saturday, November 10, 2018, and Saturday, February 23, 2019. Last season, nearly 25,000 kids experienced youth hockey for the first time. This opportunity targets kids between the ages of 4 and 9.

For November, the goal is to have over 450 locations host a Try Hockey For Free clinic. With fall youth sports wrapping up, this event provides local associations with the perfect opportunity to introduce new families to youth hockey.

February provides a great opportunity to attract new families who are thinking about hockey because it’s winter. With a goal of 350 host locations, this event will take place in late February 2019.

Facilities or associations are eligible to host a USA Hockey Try Hockey For Free event if they intend to seek registration for the participants in a USA Hockey sanctioned program.

If your association is looking to host a Try Hockey For Free event on a date outside the National events, please select "Custom Event Date" in the Event Date field. By submitting this form, please note that it does not mean your Try Hockey event is sanctioned by USA Hockey. You will need to contact your Affiliate Registrar and submit a Special Event Sanctioning request, only then, if approved, is your event sanctioned.

*Custom event dates are not eligible to receive jerseys and promotional materials from USA Hockey. Also, please note that other event dates must utilize a direct registration link for participant registration, as the events are not searchable on the map at

*If you or your association hosted a Try Hockey For Free event last season, participated in the 2 and 2 Challenge, or utilized Club Excellence, please register with the same email address for portal access.
